About

Having grown up in a musical family, Joe was given music lessons from a very young age. He started out playing the piano but later progressed to classical violin, which he formally studied until he was 18. While he was a teenager, Joe discovered jazz through learning the drums and the guitar and was given the opportunity to play in the Southampton Youth Jazz Orchestra, where he performed alongside such musicians as Courtney Pine and Ian Shaw as well as working with members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. He then continued to study jazz at Middlesex University, where he began to play the double bass, ultimately earning his Bachelors.
Since completing his education, Joe has gone on to play on the London jazz scene as well as playing other genres of music, ranging from traditional Greek music to Experimental Rock. He has also put together a project with the singer Germana La Sorsa called JiC - Jazz in Cinema - Project (click here to see some videos) as well as his own project playing his original compositions, called the Union which made it's debut at Ronnie Scott's in the summer of 2017. When he's not playing music he's often recording and/or mixing music, which he has been doing for a number of years. Joe has also been teaching music professionally since September 2017, both privately and through Bromley Youth Music Trust. As of September 2018 he also teaches double bass at Croydon Music and Arts. If you wish to arrange private lessons, please get in touch, or visit the teaching page to find out more.
